We have to admit that in many ways, we were quite relieved to leave 2020 behind! We finished the year by joining in with Falkirk Folk Club’s virtual Hogmanay session. The Manx set which we submitted as part of it can be viewed on our YouTube channel – it’s a mix of 4 traditional tunes from the lovely Isle of Man. Keep an eye on our Facebook and Twitter pages for news of online Burns’ events that we’re doing this month. With no sign of Covid restrictions easing soon, we’re hoping to do an online concert each month, with an appropriate theme.

Neil and I went to the Kelpies recently to film him playing ‘Ode to Joy’ on bagpipes. It was a chilly but beautiful morning. We will probably be doing a few outdoor recordings this year, to make up for not being able to perform in indoor venues.

It’s hard to believe that it will be a year ago this month since we moved house. The teaching room has been moved around a bit in that time, but we think we’ve got it how we like it now! It’s a great space for both teaching and recording in, and when allowed, will be a good session room, too.

Teaching will continue to be online for some time yet. We don’t envisage pupils returning to the house until much later in the year. Neil is still getting regular enquiries from potential new pupils and is passing them onto the other tutors where necessary.

We’d like to wish you all the best for 2021 – thanks for your continued support at this difficult time. Stay safe!
